Windows 11 and 10 offers less UI control over the updating behavior of the operating system than previous versions of Windows , There is no option to turn off Windows Updates using the Control Panel or Settings app in Windows 11 & 10, it checks for updates automatically and install any updates they find, whether you like it or not. This new feature is actually pretty convenient for most users. If you want control over the update process you can disable the Windows Update service . This requires that you open the Services manager, locate the service and change its startup parameter and status. You would then have to enable the service again whenever you want the operating system to check for updates (It does not look so easy).
Windows Update Blocker is a freeware that helps you to completely disable or enable Automatic Updates on your Windows system , with just a click of the button . This utility is portable, which means that you are no longer required to go through the installation process and no leftovers will remain on the HDD after its removal. if you place the program file to an external data device, you make it possible to take Windows Update Blocker everywhere with you and use it on any computer you come in contact with, who has things configured just right, and doesn’t want to take the chance that an update might mess up their system. This utility is for that person.
How it works
After downloading, extract Windows Update Blocker to your desired location, then run it
service status icon will show your windows Update service status , if you want to block Automatic Windows Updates Choose “Disable Service” And click “Apply Now” Button , Protect service setings can prevent Uncontrolled change (Recommended).
How to block any other service and protect the settings
Windows Update Blocker New version allow users to add any other service into Wub.ini file to block it , first please edit Wub.ini file and add your desired service name under the “dosvc=2,4” line , for example if you want to block “Windows Update medic Service” Please open services and find it

Wuausrv service showing only for informational purposes therefore you can not edit it.
NOTE: If the windows update service doesn’t start or if there is a problem even though you have enabled windows updates, please restart your system and try again. When windows updates are turned off, some windows processes or programs may try to open and repair Windows updates, resulting in windows update being damaged. Please use the Windows Update Troubleshooter from Microsoft if the updates do not open after restarting the system.

WUB is not a simple Windows update service disabler , it disables relevant services and many update scheduled tasks. Some people may use our software in other software (I Don’t know).Could you please use Wub v1.4 and test if “your device is missing important updates…” warnning will disappear.
ATT Author: Should you have the time and inclination would you care to comment on this post I made on Windows 10 Forum regarding my recent icon notification “your device is missing important updates…” Particularly these comments thus far: Sordum is a reliable source, but all that tool claims to do is this: “If you want control over the update process you can disable the Windows Update service” and “WUB is built into Sledgehammer”. Thank you

“your device is missing important updates Select this icon for more info” Uh-oh. First time I have seen this icon in my task bar. Running WUB 1.1. default configuration. winver 1803.xxx. Well I am not clicking on that icon. Anything to be concerned about? I’d like to just leave well enough alone but am concerned that I might need to get my hands dirty and do something about this. I don’t care about seeing the icon there I just don’t want MS to do anything about it. I think I know end of life for 1803 is this November. What if anything should I do to stay on 1803? TIA.
There is no such problem (tested) , please try again
You download contains zero bytes of data. The zip file is empty, even from several other download sources. Any fix or has MS cut out your tongue?
Try it and give us a feedback , Thanks
Simply going into services and disabling the Windows update service will not work on Windows 10 anymore. It will re-enable itself!
If this program just does that then it is no different. A sure way to disable Windows update is to kill ALL security /NTFS permissions to the w u a u c l t. EXE file and associated dll file, I think it is wuaueng.dll
Do this and what does updates absolutely is permanently disabled. You must kill permissions to the correct dll.
@Paul : Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s point of view is total wrong
@John Morales : Thank you
@Sprinter : Please check the Readme.txt file
What happened to the days when Microsoft was friendly and helpful instead of being disrespectful of others? DISGUSTING!!!
I second this…
I am satisfied with the tool. It works wonderfully in W10 1803. It blocks Windows Update but automatically allows Defender updates. Am satisfied. Good work. Thank you
Give changelog for wub1.4?
@Freaky
I am more then satisfied but “very” satisfied with WUB. I am still on ver 1.1 but so far with just the default settings I am still on 1709 and 1803 on various boot-able hard drives and computers.
Tanks my friend.
Teşekkürler dostum.

If you look at some of the more recent videos about blocking Windows Update in 2018 videos, you will notice in talk about using a .\guest account to confuse Windows Update service into not updating. Then I think you will notice that the method NO LONGER WORKS and Windows has BLOCKED IT. It may seem almost intense predatory effort to interfere with people’s choice to reject Windows Updates even with work around stuff.
Probably Microsoft try to run update but can’t, Microsoft has No respect to windows users.
Please explain plan and simple. Why does Update and Medic services switch to manual modes at some point AFTER using Windows Update Blocker for disabling them, and do Windows Updates get blocked after they automatically switch to the manual modes? I used version 1.3. Forced updates and reboots are absurd for people who work on crisis and important matters, and forced updates have broken by VeraCrypt boot loaders for password prompt multiple times and cost me days for software fixes.
