Microsoft Edge is a “Trusted” UI App and a core part of the Windows 11-10 Operating System it sets itself to not only be the default browser, but the default PDF reader too it is integrated in Windows 11, Edge is clearly the application that Microsoft wants you to use by any means. And yet, there are many reasons to stay away from Edge and continue using Other Browsers . There is no option to block it but sometimes it can be necessary, for example:

Edge Blocker is a Portable Freeware , the app starts up right away after you download and unpack it , (it works on windows 11-10 , Windows 8.1 , Windows 8 and Windows 7). The interface is pretty basic, so no super skills are required to work with it.
To block Microsoft EDGE use “Block” button and to unblock it click “Unblock” button , once you’ve blocked the browser, it won’t load even if you – or an app – tries to launch , we recommend to change the default browser firs if you have no other browser installed (use defult browser link).Edge icon on the GUI will show the status of the Microsoft Edge , if it is grayed out mean it is blocked.
If you use EDGE shortcut box , Edge blocker will create a Microsoft EDGE shortcut on desktop.
In a command prompt, running “EdgeBlock_x64.exe /?” or “EdgeBlock.exe /?” (no quotes) will list all available parameters.
if your Windows user account has administrator privileges, the restriction takes place at the system level, so all users are impacted.
NOTE : If EDGE browser is open during blocking process, it will be closed forcefully. Before you Block Microsoft EDGE , please not forget to change your default browser – Here

can you made a portable tool or addon which can run any browser in old internet explorer 9, 10 or 11 mode. As edge and chrome has increased security it possess difficulty in using usb digital signature and I have to manually do many things to make it run by compromising the security of browsers. There is a tool called IE Tab in chrome but now its become paid. I only want to run the browser in old internet mode with desired version like 9 or 10 or 11. Can you please help.
Microsoft and Edge are "ruthless". I went and opened up Edge to access Bing Maps and view some traffic cams. I find Bing Maps more appealing then Google.
But omfg. My pc’s fans started sound like a jet engine. I went and looked at my CPU usage and Edge was consuming over 95% of my resources. I have a gaming PC that’s fast and only a couple years old.
I opened up Chrome (after shutting down Edge) and my CPU only ramped up to around 50%. I should also add that i used an adblocker on Edge,
The takeaway is there’s so much background ads, tracking, telemetry, and more on Windows and Edge that eventually we won’t be able to have a Windows PC with even more crap running in order to access websites.

can you make a optional password for unblocking? I want to block or uninstall it to overcome my internet addiction. In firefox I have already put in time and usage limits, but I circumvent them by using edge. I would Block it and let someone else choose the password to unblock. This would help a lot of people who have the same issues as me and who told me similar things.

A feature suggestion. Have it also change the shortcut to Edge to the Edge Block exe file. So if one opens it on purpose they can unblock it (then when they do it opens Edge)

M$ Edge will reset all mods every time it updates or when M$ pushes an update. I just block the program (incoming-outgoing/any port/any protocol) in my firewall – I’m using Private Firewall 7.0.3. I know that Private Firewall is old and no longer maintained but I’ve been using it since the old Atguard was mangled by Symantec. Need to make sure that it is the authentic PF 7.0.3! It works on Win 10 x64.
