DNS Angel v.1.7 – What’s New – (Monday, 23 th January 2023)
1. [Fixed] – Software interface (GUI) is too small
2. [Fixed] – Restore Dns button doesn’t work properly
3. [Added] – IP v6 support
4. [Added] – Disable or enable balloon tips feature
5. [Added] – x64 version
6. [Added] – Some code improvements
If you click on any button in the software interface, you will start using one of the secure dns. The software applies the corresponding secure dns change on all network cards when one of the buttons is clicked. Use the “Default Dns” button to return to your default dns settings.
If secure dns has ipv6 support, the software will automatically assign secure ipv6 dns . If you want to go back to your previous dns before using dns angel, all you need to do is use the Restore Dns button.
To aid in blocking inappropriate websites, DNS Angel uses only family safe DNS IP’s. For more info, please visit Family Safe DNS providers: Yandex Family , Open Dns Parental Control , Cleanbrowsing , Neustar , Norton Family DNS (Retired)
How to Add your own DNS IP addresses
In this release DNS Angel read DnsAngel.ini file to show safe DNS ip addresses , this allows you to change the dns ips easily. If you want to add your own Dns address, right click DnsAngel.ini file and open it with Notepad or any other text editor , find the [DnsAngel_list] line and edit following DNS Adresses and Names.
Important : The browser may not detect the DNS change unless you close the browser. Even if you close the browser, it may still be running in the background. The best solution might be something like logging out and logging in again.
NOTE: You can use Google SafeSearch to Block (filter) explicit search results on Google. It is not 100% accurate but can help you avoid inappropriate search results on your phone, tablet, or computer.
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 11 , Windows 10, Windows 8.1 , Windows 8 , Windows 7 , Windows Vista , Windows Xp – (Both x86 and x64)

Yes , if you change the DNS settings, they can not change it with the restricted user account
I run a lab of 27 computers and have been looking for an inexpensive way to limit access to inappropriate websites and malware sites. This software looks like it might do the trick. I have a restricted user account on all the computers, so if I run this from the admin account and change the DNS, would it then apply to the restricted user account without them being able to change it?
Thanks,
WG
it is a Portable Application you can’t install it and you don’t need to uninstall it (just delete), if you mean how to turn back to your default dns just use “Default DNS button” or you can use “Restore DNS” button
how to uninstall it on our computer.
hi
your software is good and simple so it’s great ! 😀
add comodo secure DNS to your software !
tnx.
Thank you for the informative comment Paul
Hi there. Thanks for adding MetaCert to the list. In answer to which is the best, I have a very strong opinion.
To control access to inappropriate websites and other categories, then I would recommend either Norton or OpenDNS. MetaCert does not help you to control access to any of these categories.
If you would like to control access to inappropriate websites, then MetaCert’s DNS is the very best in the world. This is all that MetaCert does – with over 655 million pages labeled – or 32 billion URLs – this number is great than the total number of URLs covered by all categories by other companies.
As I said, Norton and OpenDNS are good for general family safety.
As I said ; the simplest way is to create a restricted standard user account for your children so that they cannot change the DNS settings
Hello,
is there a (simple) way to lock DNS changes on Windows ?
this would be awesome to include this kind of lock (or continuous check) in DNS Angel 🙂
DNS settings in Windows will override the one on your router. For example, if you’ve configured your router to use OpenDNS FamilyShield but on the computer is using the Google Public DNS, the computer will end up using the Google’s DNS rather than OpenDNS. To prevent the DNS method being bypassed, you will need to create a restricted standard user account for your children so that they cannot change the DNS settings.
Question: my computer is hooked up to a router and that router is using OpenDNS (not family) will this app change anything there or does it only affect the computer it is run on?
Goal is exactly the same but each service quality is different and they always update their databases therefore I can not say which one offers the best protection , you can test all of them and find your best , currently ; OPen DNS Family and Norton con. Safe2 seems better but as I said it is changeable , Thanks
Hi. A newbie question: What’s the difference between the 4 DNS services that DNS Angel offers ? Which one should I choose ?? Thanks.
