How to use
Extract the ZIP to the folder of your choice, and then run the program. Select your desired context menu entries by ticking the adjacent checkbox, then click the Apply Changes button.
Easy Context Menu has six main categories, and three sub-categories:
1. Desktop Context Menu
2. My Computer Context Menu
2a: Tools
2b: System Tools
2c: Turn Off options
3. Drives Context Menu
4. Folder Context Menu
5. File Context Menu
6. EXE file Context Menu
Found within are all of Sordum’s small tools: Delete Temp Files, Restart Windows Explorer, Show or Hide Hidden Files/Folders, Show or Hide File Extensions, Rebuild Shell Icon Cache, Select All Files, Copy IP address, Reduce Memory, Fix Print Spooler, Take Ownership (which has no UAC problem and it also works in Windows XP).
You can elect to show or hide the icon for any item by right clicking on it and selecting “Enable Icon”. Click “Enable Icon” again to toggle it back off.
The same menu allows you to arrange icon positions (Top, Middle or Bottom) or jump directly to the registry key for that item. The “Enable Shift-Click” option sets the item as hidden on the menu until you press the Shift key, which then makes it visible.
Add any program to your context menu
With Easy Context Menu, it is very easy to add any program to your right click menu. To do so:
1. Open the List Editor
2. Drag and drop your desired program into the editor
3. Click the “Save Changes” button and close then List Editor
4. Now you will see the newly added program in ECM’s main window. Just select it and click the Apply Changes button.
How to Clean the Right Click Menu
The context menu is often abused by software vendors who add useless entries without asking permission. You can use ECM’s new context menu cleaner feature to remove all unwanted entries.
Just select an unwanted entry and click the Delete button to remove it from your context menu. It’s that simple.
Block a Program in Windows Firewall
To block a program in Windows Firewall using ECM:
1. Add the ‘Block In Windows Firewall’ entry to your context menu
2. Right click on any application (exe) and select Block In Windows Firewall. To remove an application from being blocked, right click and then choose “Remove From Windows Firewall”.
Windows 10 BUG
Please be aware of a well known (except, apparently, by Microsoft) bug in Windows 10 — if you change the “Open File Explorer to” This PC, and then add context menu items, you cannot use Windows Explorer properly because explorer.exe will automatically run the most recently added right click item. We have reported this bug here (with no response, as yet).
There is a temporary workaround you can use – if you add anything under the My Computer context menu, please check the box by “My Computer (for Win 10 bug)” entry as well. Then you’ll be able to use Windows Explorer normally.
NOTE: We are still waiting for a fix from Microsoft
Please don’t use take ownership feature on windows system files and folders (For example Fonts folder etc.) . It may cause windows to not work properly

I just installed Windows 10 20H2 and now items added for the Desktop Context Menu end up in the Navigation Pane context menus in Explorer and in the the empty spaces inside of any folder, except for This PC.
"What I’m looking find is a means to save a short portion of text whilst working, to return to when need thats easy to find (aka the desktop) – thus a not frills, notepad-a-like with zero editing option just a save to txt tool straight to desktop via a contextual menu that saves either in numerical order or the first x amount of letters/words of the selected text."
Check out a program called "AceText". It can track every text copied across your computer and catalog it altogether into a quickly searchable, easily filterable list.
This way, you can write notes for yourself anywhere, even in the URL bar of a web browser (then just select the text and CTRL-C it, boom, noted).
You can have the "notes" panel pulled up easily by a keyboard shortcut, which just as easily disappears when you press the keyboard shortcut again.
I use this for all my notes now, because it’s also helpful to have a journal/record of other text I’ve copied through the day/weeks/months.
Please use this trick

I would like to be able to block mouse input without blocking keyboard input. This would be very helpful while typing since my laptop’s touch pad is located directly below the keyboard. I can’t find any software that does this, although plugging a mouse into the USB port automatically disables the touch pad and the touch pad is automatically restored to normal function when the mouse is unplugged.
Love this tool – love just about everything you guys do, so many useful tools/utils I never knew I need or there was a tool for what I did..
I was wondering if there is a way to select a portion of text and save it to a fast (& dirty) note using this?
or could there be a tool in the future?
I’ve tried many a notepad & clipboard tool and use them but they lack this. I like Outertechs Clipboard tool but need something snappier.
Pantherbar has something like what I need but you (oh no) have to select a destination and give it a name (or it defaults to something umemoriable.tmp.txt

Can this be done?
! more – any chance of a paid for option that keeps us up to date with all the tools and an all in one downloader? Similar to something like PortableApps’s set up?
Regardless thanks for making these – I can’t stop recommending your site to anyone who will listen.
Thank you for your comment seems Logical
Thanks for your great efforts.
It would be helpful to us if you could add a version number to the downloads we receive, like
Sordum_Easy_Context_Menu_16.zip
rather than ec_menu.zip
Eight characters, still?
With your name and the number we would have more information with which to identify the files.

*lol*
Easy Context Menu is a large list of actions in which there is both important and not.
However,at the last moment, during a detailed inspection,I found what was written earlier to the Send To Menu Editor software, namely the addition of the “copy to/move to” function.
I do not even know whether to download such a large functionality to just add 2 menu items…
Provided that You refuse in my early message,or the execution will be lengthy, most likely,I will have to search the Internet for a program as convenient/small as sendto Menu Editor,or a registry file to download.
Класс! Молодцы разработчики! Работа проделана не зря!
Amazing. Thank you for your hard work. Much love. Cheers!
Unfortunately "False positives" are the biggest problem of all software developers
@Andre : Stop being a damned nuisance fool with a big mouth will you!?
Have you not heard of a FALSE POSITIVE?
Are you actually having the AUDACITY to come here to this fine website to slander a guy, (his name is Nir Sofer by the way), who has given us all SO MUCH FOR FREE over the years over on his nirsoft website and telling everyone who reads it that he is trying to foist a virus on us all by hiding it inside his software???
You have some cheek!!
Start with your very sincere apology right now because that is what you ought to be doing, giving your apology to Nir right now! He has spent years learning and developing better and more useful software which is most always FREE and is of use not only to the end user but to creators of other software too, as we are seeing is the case here. And then a swede like you comes along shouting his mouth off after a file gets a result by TWO (Only two of those in your link actually recognised the file as a minor, WRONGLY as a FALSE POSITIVE because it is not a miner you fool). You should know that a result from TWO of the scanners out of 71 is WAY WAY WAY BELOW SCIENTIFIC ACCEPTANCE LEVEL.
Lets just say it is hardly even significant. In fact I would go further and say it IS NOT SIGNIFICANT. Because it isn’t.
Please, do yourself a favour and have a wee read of Nir’s About page -probably a bit dated by now but still worth the read to get to know him and what he does..- it is just telling about him and who he is I suppose. In the old style of how websites used to be with their ABOUT ME page that we all thought we must have on our website, before uploading the index.html to geocities or angelfire or lycos hehehe. Sorry, I am getting a rush of nostalgia. Always happens when I visit Nirsoft har har. Anyway have a read:

Apologies for my somewhat passionate response to you but I cannot stress to you enough that there is NO WAY that a piece of software by Nir Sofer is going to be carrying any kind of malware or virus inside. This is the guy who creates tools for us all to be able to get one over on such malwares so that we can beat them!
Stay safe in these Covid days and best wishes.

Thank you , we have noted it down
Hi
I’ve been using some of your software from time to time and i want to thank you for writing it and make it free (almost all are free). I’m encountering a problem with ecmenu take ownership function. It works fine from windows explorer but if i right click from other third party file explorer like (total commander, double commander, etc) i get an error saying "Application not found". Is there any way to make this function in third party file explorers ? Thank you
@InProject
You can use the KeyFreeze program.
