Every browser comes a new user profile where all of your favorites, page/search histories, addons, cookies, preferences and other settings are stored.Any computer user always runs the risk of losing his data due to program or computer crash. If you use Firefox as your Primary Browser, you may prefer to back up regularly to guard against the possibility that their profile gets corrupted or wiped after installing a new extension or a new version of Firefox.
What is New (Wednesday, February 19th – 2020)
1. [ADDED] – Portable Firefox Support
2. [ADDED] – File – “Firefox links” feature reads from .ini file
3. [ADDED] – Ability to open the backup folder from the action menu
There are some ways to back up:
1. Use a backup utility
2. Do it yourself manually
3. Use Firefox Sync function
Backing up Firefox manually is as simple as copying their respective profile folders to another location. For example;
Key4.db : contains a key used to encrypt and decrypt saved passwords
logins.json : stores the encrypted names and passwords
Places.sqlite : stores the annotations, bookmarks, favorite icons, input history, keywords, and browsing history
Cookies.sqlite : is used to store cookies between sessions
If you do that, you’ll have a full backup with all your setting and personal data saved. Syncing is NOT as good as backing up because it is usually not Long-Term , syncing will not ensure that your files are safe and You can’t trust your vital computer data to syncing; you must back it up. When you back something up to a hard drive or external HDD/USB flash drive , they stay there until you decide to delete them. If you need a file from last week, last month or last year, it will be there exactly the way you backed it up.
Backup and restore Your Firefox Bookmarks , Passwords and settings
Backing up of important data is always a smart thing to do. “Simple Firefox Backup” is a portable Freeware Tool that will help you easily create back-up copies of your Mozilla Firefox data . The software is an automated version of the manual method it does not read your passwords, and doesn’t change any files. Passwords and bookmarks are Private data. There can be no justification for reading them (For example “Key4.db” file). The software which can read the encrypted Passwords can steal them too, please stay away from such software, if you want to see your passwords, just type “about:logins” into the Firefox’s address bar. (Be very careful with the software that reads the passwords)
How to use Simple Firefox backup
Run the appropriate exe file (x64 or x86) and click second button (Create Firefox Backup)
Your backup has been created with time stamp. On GUI you will see the Backup Folders names like Firefox Backup 1,2,3 … To Restore one of them choose it and use First Button (Restore Backup), or just Right click on it and use Restore backup feature. You can also delete one/some or all of the backup folders with using trash can button.
On default settings Simple Firefox Backup create a backup with 9 Files , but you can choose which files to back up for example if you don’t want to backup “search.json.mozlz4” file choose File – Open Config File and set the search.json.mozlz4 number to 0
1 – Simple Firefox Backup will backup it
0 – Simple Firefox Backup will Not backup it

You can change the .ini file to set the backup Process , for example
Web Link …
Key4.db : contains a key used to encrypt and decrypt saved passwords
logins.json : stores the encrypted names and passwords
Places.sqlite : stores the annotations, bookmarks, favorite icons, input history, keywords, and browsing history
Cookies.sqlite : is used to store cookies between sessions
2 questions.
1) Simple Firefox Backup creates only 9 backups No more, no less. It’s just not very clear to me.
2) I always use the Portable version, and I just have "json" files to restore.
Your software-corrEct,for safe saving/restoring(NOT my file, but in general)?
Does this app allow to backup extensions, or having any option to configure?
Not Automatically , but you can do it manually
Does it allow to compress backup files in ZIP format?
Only for Windows System
Is it only for pc, or for android too
The name of the profile folder that Firefox uses is determined from the file "% APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\profiles.ini" SFB takes the name of the profile folder from the profiles.ini file and processes it. In the backup process, only the files such as bookmarks, password … are kept backed up so that the backup is not too big.The names of the files to be backed up were determined from the fBackup.ini file. We have noted down the compression option for the next version, Thanks
Thanks you for Simple Firefox Backup (SFB
The software apparently not use the current Firefox profile name or it use a custom reference name that NOT corresponding to the saved profile. If my Firefox profile is "jgcn6b6q.iajn2177.default-release-1592629335091" SFB will use something like this: "Firefox_20200803_111151" . When I try to restore my profile I get a error like "the profile [n] is not found" or "don’t exist" . I think the best way for a practical and logical backup list is to have the REAL profile names from SFB. I don’t feel secure using this utility although its pimpliest and fast scheme is very attractive. Another detail, why the backup is so small compared to the real profile current content?? I can see only some item saved, my current profile is 230 MB but the backup is only 45 mb, and it is not compressed at all .
We have Noted it down, Thank you
Currently fBackup works with portable Firefox created in the PortableApps format ( looks for Data\Profile). Please provide a option to directly select the Profile folder. This way portables created in other formats can also be backed up – I create my own portable, so Profile is in another location.
Fixed thank you.
Is there a32 bit ver of this?

Since the software we develop is freeware, it targets normal users, not office workers. You said ; every developer you know uses profile manager (You probably mean more than one profil), You cannot categorize user habits in this way. No developer I know uses multiple profiles. We did not tested it with one profil only.As we said we have noted it down and try to fix , thanks again for your help
Note: Firefox is not my main Browser just one of the 5 Browsers
In reply to your feedback, yes every developer I know uses profile manager, every one of my colleagues in my office must use profile manager, you cant test anything with one profile. Profiles were not compatible between multiple versions of Firefox, neither Pale Moon, you can use the same profile but you will inherit the problems because incompatible values in the profile.
Thanks for your feedback. who uses more than one profile for the same user ? for example, I never needed it and Probably 99% of users use only one profile. But we have noted it down for the next version.
Seems for some reason your backup tool is choosing by itself to backup the profile on the default position, the profile which is not the default in my case, and I’m cautioning people not to rely on this tool thinking they are safe, if they are using multiple profiles with the profile manager.
In my case instead of backing up the default nightly64 profile C:\Users\L\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\0vq98e7x.Nightly64bit
it backed up the non default which was in the default first position "default" in firefox profile manager C:\Users\L\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\annbrtpj.default
I could thank my cousin that forced me to check inside backup folder which settings were backed up and his 6 sense was right, this toll backed up the wrong profile.
