Computer monitors consume a significant amount of energy and it could be reduced dramatically by simply turning the screen off whenever it’s not needed , Unfortunately, Windows does not offer a convenient shortcut for this task. The Power Options in Windows have a setting to turn off the monitor after xx amount of minutes when your computer is idle. While this works, setting it to kick in too fast can be annoying because you don’t want the screen to go off when in the middle of reading something. If you have a desktop computer You could for example turn off your monitor manually but have you ever tried to turn off a laptop screen? Most laptops don’t offer this feature. Sordum Monitor off Software is an Utility to Switch Off your Desktop or Laptop Monitor with single Mouse click or by pressing a Keyboard key combination. This utility also has some extra features Like lock the workstation feature, Block keyboard When Screen Turns Off ,Block Mouse When Screen Turns Off , Mute Sound When Screen Turns Off , Automatically start with windows startup etc.
When using devices like Laptop which run on battery, you can significantly increase the battery life by simply Turning Off your Monitor when not required,or when performing any background tasks like a virus scan or listening to Music or downloading a huge file. then using Sordum Monitor Off Software can not only help protect your computer it is the best way to save money on your power bill.

Does this work with multiple monitors? I am searching for something which enables you to selectively turn one or more monitors off without the win 10 re-configuring the monitor layout. Currently I run 6 monitors simultaneously, but rarely need more than 3 at any given time.
Noted them down , thank you
Press the computer’s power button to turn on the monitor screen.
Please update the screen to turn on when you press the desktop power button
You can set the program according to your own preferences from the window opened with the /Config parameter. Then just run MonitorOff.exe or MonitorOff_x64.exe normally. If you only want it to turn off the screen, uncheck all the options in the settings window.
I currently use "nircmdc.exe monitor async_off" as a desktop shortcut with an assigned hotkey. It works quite well and does not have problems restoring the display when needed. I am not sure that this program is going to improve things and by the sound of some of the feedback could just create problems with the screen not restoring. BTW displayport can have problems with power saving where it cannot restore the display from power saving. Recently that has not been a problem for me and I do not want those problems again. I do not need all the other stuff, only the monitor power saving.
I need a program that turns off the screen but the mouse and keyboard work on the system normally without turning the screen back on, so I would use a specific shortcut for that logically.
@Khan: Did you read the article?
@Nabil: Thank you for your suggestion we have noted it down but You can set a password for your user account and select the lock current user account when screen turns off option from the settings.
If both monitor and keyboard is locked then how will the user turn the monitor on again?
Please add option to lock it with a password and Gives a custom message when wrong password is inputed.
Suppose same user account is used by multiple persons for no particular reason. This happens all the time. Specially for casual users. If someone has some very important thing going (compiling, rendering etc.) they would like it so that other can not use the PC. It will give a messaging set by logged user prior (“An important software is installing now.”) upon entering wrong password.
I had used a soft like that which could lock and turn the monitor off but there was no message option. Also it was already old. So often crushed and lost its’ purpose.
@humb
Use hotkey Ctrl + Alt + F
Monitor off software does not disable "Ctrl + Alt + Del" keys. Please Untick "Block keyboard when screen turns off " option
The other day I turned off the monitor for a few hours with keyboard blocked. I pressed Ctrt-Alt-Del to return but it didn’t work no matter how often I tried it. Hitting the reset button didn’t work either. I had to cut the power to computer to get the monitor back. Does Ctrl-Alt-Del cease to work if several hours have passed and the keyboard is blocked?
It can be possible Thanks
It would be great if you add monitor shutdown feature to Keyfreeze 1.5. It would be great to even send the monitor shutdown command for a certain time (for example, every 5 seconds).
Please use Ctrl+Alt+Del
If i disable mouse and keyboard, how can i turn monitor on?
