Computer monitors consume a significant amount of energy and it could be reduced dramatically by simply turning the screen off whenever it’s not needed , Unfortunately, Windows does not offer a convenient shortcut for this task. The Power Options in Windows have a setting to turn off the monitor after xx amount of minutes when your computer is idle. While this works, setting it to kick in too fast can be annoying because you don’t want the screen to go off when in the middle of reading something. If you have a desktop computer You could for example turn off your monitor manually but have you ever tried to turn off a laptop screen? Most laptops don’t offer this feature. Sordum Monitor off Software is an Utility to Switch Off your Desktop or Laptop Monitor with single Mouse click or by pressing a Keyboard key combination. This utility also has some extra features Like lock the workstation feature, Block keyboard When Screen Turns Off ,Block Mouse When Screen Turns Off , Mute Sound When Screen Turns Off , Automatically start with windows startup etc.
When using devices like Laptop which run on battery, you can significantly increase the battery life by simply Turning Off your Monitor when not required,or when performing any background tasks like a virus scan or listening to Music or downloading a huge file. then using Sordum Monitor Off Software can not only help protect your computer it is the best way to save money on your power bill.

check the box in front of the feature you want to use and click “Save Options” Button finally run the MonitorOff.exe or MonitorOff_x64.exe file.

@martin Even though it says "LockUser=0", it still wakes up to lock screen after the monitor’s on again.
@Kaiki
I tried, no problem. Check the settings in the MonitorOff.ini file.
i unchecked the "lock current user account when screen turns off" box, but it still locks my user account
@Antonio
I tried, there is no problem. Examples;
@echo off
Set WaitSec=3
Start MonitorOff.exe /OFF
ping 127.0.0.1 -n %WaitSec%
Start MonitorOff.exe /ON
Hi. I have tried calling the MonitorOFF application with 2 .bat files. One to turn off the monitor and another to turn on. But I can never turn on the monitor automatically with a timer. I always have to click or click to get the power on.
Like said by a lot, I can not make it work with dual monitor. I mean, I use one monitor and when doing heavy multitasking, I would like to be able to wake monitor 2 with this tool.
PS: those that says that laptop got this feature (Fn+F6) is cool for them, but be honest add reconize that you never use thise Fn+F6 shit, and more not everybody use laptop…
Nice app, thanks.
Multi-monitor on/off works but not per individual monitor e.g. turn monitor 2 off but keep monitor 1 on. Can this be done/added?
We have tested it in virtual Machine and it seems to work with Multiple Monitor. if you test it and give us feedback we will be pleased.
Multi monitor support?
Like I can control each monitor individually.
Thank you Jonas

As Владимир asked (May 1, 2018): “Как включать экран ноутбука с помощью мышки и тачпада?” [per Google Translate: “How to turn on laptop screen with mouse and touchpad?”]
Yes, this needs clarification, please.
•Does clicking any key or the mouse or the mousepad turn on the monitor? (if not locked)
•…Or bring up a dialog box requesting a password? (if the PC is locked)
•…Or does the hotkey combo (e.g., Ctrl+Alt+B) function in a toggle manner?
•Presumably if one uses “MonitorOff.exe /OFF” in a command window, one could type “MonitorOff.exe /ON” to turn the monitor back on. But this assumes the command window still has the focus, which cannot necessarily be assumed (e.g., if one has habitually hit Alt+Tab and accidentally changed the focus before taking proper steps to turn the monitor back on).
(I suppose I could figure this out by trial-and-error, but I wouldn’t want to get the monitor turned off and not be able to get it turned back on.)
Some laptop brands do have specific function key combination to turn off the monitor (hardware integrated). This software would really help for those laptop who doesnt have this feature 🙂
